U2 Night 3 at the Forum in Inglewood California. My 23rd U2 show lifetime since opening night in 1997 in Las Vegas 2nd show of the U2 Innocence + Experience Tour with Amber who is a huge U2 fan but had never been to a U2 concert in her life. I wanted to get a different persective from Wenesday nights show so I tried the other side of the stage. Bono made his entrance at about 8:18pm through the crowd by the e stage and the show began with The Miracle of Joey Ramone, Next U2 went back in time to their first album Boy playing Electric Co on the main stage. Vertigo was next. Then U2 played another off the Boy album I Will Follow which still rocks the house after more than 30 years!. Bono then gave a short speech where he said it this was the bands third night of residency in this town. Then stating that the Edge was a very funky man and that the Edge so fell in love with this city he made it his home. Then Bono stated he wanted to take us over the next few songs to where they grew up in Ireland. The next song was a tribute to Bono's mother and the city and street they lived.
Iris off the new album was intro as Bono walked up a staircase to the inside of the floor long video monitor. Bono shortly appeared on the far end of the monitor as the street racing by on the screen came to a slower speed which revealed him walking down the street singing as Edge was down below him strumming his guitar.
Next U2 played another off the new disc Cedarwood road which made use of the monitor as the band played on stage. After a third song in a row off the new cd Song for Someone was played the band did an acoustic version of Sunday Bloody Sunday which was great. Next another off the new album the rocker Raided by Wolves. The band closed the first act with one of my faves Until the End of the World.
U2 took a short break as a video of Johnny Cash was revealed on the monitor as The Wanderer was played.
All of the band were spread across the cat walk inside the video screen as spots in the solid screen opened up to reveal each member two facing south and two facing north so both sides could see as they played another off the new cd Invisible. U2 broke into Even Better than the Real Thing and finished on the "e" stage where we moved closer and got some great pictures. Elevation was played to everyones satisfaction and then U2 slowed it down a bit for Stuck In A Moment which Edge played piano and Bono sang to perfection. The Band then played another off the new disc Every Breaking Wave one of my favorites off the cd. Next U2 played the hard rocker off the Joshua Tree album Bullet the Blue Sky as they all made their way back to the main stage. Bono made his way back down the walkway to the e stage as he sung a sniplet of the Hands that Built America then to everyones joy they broke into Pride. Next it was a Beautiful Day and they closed the great second half of the show playing another off the Joshua Tree With or Without You as they ended Bono said thank you to the crowd and good night as they had done many a time on the Joshua Tree tour. After a short while U2's crew had long white lights set up all around the stage and on the walkway. Then they appeared and played City of Blinding Lights. Next they electrified the crowd with Where the Streets Have No Name and finished another great show this time with an acoustic version of I Still Haven't Found what I'm Looking For and the crowd dispearsed clearly satisfied once again.
