As the excitement was building on the floor of the Forum, I was struck by how much this tour reminded me of Zoo TV: the equipment hanging from the ceiling, the sound guys jumping in their harnesses to spend the evening aloft, but also how different: who would have ever thought of bisecting the floor?, what was that double-sided screen thingy?

Over the course of 30 years, I have been attending U2 shows large and small, and the electricity in the air is ALWAYS undeniable.  As they entered the stage and the show began, I was struck immediately by the energy these men have, and such a strong desire to connect with us, their fans.  I really enjoyed how the new songs felt like old ones, and how masterfully this band blends the familiar with the new.  Digging out "The Electric Co." brought me back to high school.  They played it with as much fervor as they did back in 1985 at the San Francisco Civic Center.  Using the rarely (if ever) played "The Wanderer" during the faux intermission was brilliant!   Zooropa was such an amazing album.  If I have any criticism, it's that the show always ends too soon.  "No!  We're not done with you yet.  Get back here!!" 

I've now got grandchildren (!!!) that have found their way to Bono and the boys.  Looking in the rear-view and watching my grandsons and granddaughter air guitar to "Cedarwood Road" makes me smile.  More budding U2 fans to carry on the tradition!  I look forward to Leg 2, and to future shows, when I likely will bring my grandkids along.  Maybe the band members' children will form a band in the future?  U2.1?  If so, count me in!
