As a true fan for the last 17 years I was very glad to be present at the Elevation concert.
The evening started with Kelis, who (like U2) showed good enthousiasm.
Then the 4 U2 members came up. The main lights were still on during 'Elevation', then suddenly main lights went out and showtime began.
For me personally, the additions of Bono in the songs (like 'Get up, stand up, stand up for your rights') give extra power to the live versions of the songs.
The classic 'Bad' song, as we all well remember from Live Aid back in 1985, got an extra dimension by inviting a girl and her father on the stage.
As I know from U2's video's Rattle and Hum and Popmart in Mexico City, a sad or serious song (like 'Bad' or 'Please') is always followed by the optimistic 'Where the streets have no name'.
Also in our concert, 'Bad' was followed by 'Where the streets have no name', with the red lighted stage and Edge's beautiful introducing guitar chords.
Bono even imitated the Statue of Liberty in the 'New York' song.
The songs 'One' and 'Walk on' were beautiful as well and concluded the concert.
Hope to see U2 again in the Netherlands soon.
I also hope that some day some more live concert material will be available in CD stores.
For me, U2 is special because of the enormous amount of enthousiasm and energy, shown on stage.
Greetings to every U2 fan,
Jan-Pieter van Acht.
