The funniest part of the show was as "City of Blinding Lights" was kicking off with the tinkling intro music, Bono announced in his grandiose voice that "Barack Obama's sister is in the house tonight!" and then grinned and paused a beat for what he thought was going to be rapturous applause from the audience..... then..... nothing. Maybe a few boos actually.
Bono noticeably hesitated for a minute at the response - a sort of hitch in his giddy-up and I could almost see the wheels in his head turning as if to say "that's right - we're in the Southern US now - gotcha" and proceeded with the song.
Please don't think I'm making a political point here - I just found it to be such an insightful and powerful moment between Bono and the audience.
