The venue was the world famous Sid Grauman's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd. I was surprised that LA city government would allow U2 to play after the infamous downtown gig in March, 1987. Since the first airing of Rattle n' Hum was the premiere, another airing was scheduled at midnight and we were able to get tickets for that. Of course all the usual diehards did brave the traffic, it's true, rock n' roll stops the traffic! The permit allowed for the entire street with a name to be blocked off so when Stand By Me was performed Bono sang it from the middle of the street and he was very animated. I think he was trying to make up for not finishing the other impromtu event. This was one of the few times that U2 opened for U2 because when the film aired later that night we all sang the entire movie note for note. It was indeed like being at a concert and what more could you ask for with Bono, Adam, Larry, and the Edge larger than life!
