I am welsh, i saw U2 in 1993 in Wembley and Cardiff, but this was a strange but fantastic gig for me. My best friend lives in Athens and he bought the tickets (Nikos Efstatiou is his name), and me..well i came out to see this gig. Popmart through all its hype was a well thought out, fantastic gig. I had this impression that U2 were giving to the fans on this one, there must of been at least 100,000 greeks shouting for them and me a welshman in there country well what can i say? from my heart it was truly special. I love the culture of Greece and U2 brought popmart for the first time in a wonderful country.
Gone was a great song live, Pride (say no more), With or Without You (Mmmmmmmmmm beautiful), and that giant lemon, well i thought i was being abducted by aliens and we wern't even drunk as alcohol was not sold. This band are amazing, they continue to play in many countries, and bring out great tunes. Please was a fantastic highlight of this popmart tour, the emotion, the passion and the intesity of this tune is truley great. Bono is just a natural, he can perform, he can bring a whole crowd in the palm of his hands and he delivers every time. I have never seen a bad U2 gig, wherever they perform, they give 100%.
A fantastic experience was this gig and Nikos and Tasos, i will always be grateful to you for this highlight and long lasting memory in my life. this gig will live forever within me, it will be past down from generation to generation. Bono. Edge, Larry and Adam, thank you for you inspiration and dedication to music. Cheers
