This review is done years later, as I reminisce about the best U2 shows I've seen. I've seen U2 in legendary venues (Yankee Stadium) and emotional times (NJ Oct 2001, just after 9/11).
But this Hartford show ranks up there for me as my favorite. I absolutely LOVED Actung Baby when the album was released. Great album from start to finish. I couldn't get enough of it, and still love it to this day.
I was a fan of U2 in the 80s, but I never saw them in concert. Hartford was my first U2 show. That made it special. But what made it even more memorable was how primed up I was for this show.
I was playing Actung like everyday. We drove like 1.5 hours to get to Hartford, completely fired up. When U2 took the stage, they played like 8 songs off Actung, right off the bat! My friends and I were going nuts, loving it.
I've been to tons of concerts in my day. I can't think of any other tour where I was SOO into the album, and so primed for the show.
