First of all, a big thank you to Mr. G (you know who you are) for getting me in to this show (my 16th), he saw the sign I carried reading "fan since 1981" and not only got me in, but onto the floor-heartwarming to see old-school fans still around. Very solid show, Bono's voice was in good shape and he reached most of the high notes, though a few times he went off-key briefly and was adjusting his earpieces. Hearing "The Ocean" after 22 years of shows was wonderful and unexpected, the band are really trying to break their old habit of overly-repetitive set lists (from night to night, I mean) and are to be commended for stretching themselves. The crowd at the tip of the ellipse was well-behaved and there was none of the pushing and shoving many of us experienced in the old days. Edge was fairly subdued most of the evening, staying off of the ellipse most of the show, and not "rocking out" much. Adam seemed a bit worn out for the first three or four songs-not that it affected his playing at all, and Larry was his usual steady self. Bono sang part of "Blackbird" during the end of "Beautiful Day" and seemed to be using new lyrics (about diving) to parts of "Ocean". The band has certainly hit its stride now, and the rough edges from the first week have all but vanished.
