Once again, U2 gave a tremendous show for the fans in the Midwest! I was very disappointed after all of the lobbying to get U2 to play KC, that Kemper arena was not a sellout (offical reports listed it at 1,000 tickets shy of a sellout). But the crowd was treated to an "elevated" total sensory experience! U2 honored the older fans with classic numbers such as "New Year's Day" and "Bad". "Sunday Bloody Sunday" was a big crowd pleaser. But unfortunately, my daughter and I were surrounded by current fans - the only songs they identified with were from ATYCLB. Some groused and grumbled about the "old stuff". But we didn't let their remarks bother us, it was great to hear the great U2 repetoire in action! We had travelled to Indy to catch a show on the Spring leg of the tour, and I appreciated how this show was just as fresh, energetic and exciting as the May concert. We did miss "Mysterious Ways" and "With or Without You", but enjoyed hearing "Angel of Harlem" and "What's Going On". The encore was fantastic, with the names of the Sept. 11th victims scrolling down the screen, and then the names appeared to be floating around the arena and up the ceiling, all serving as a backdrop to Bono playing "Peace on Earth" and "Walk On." Thanks to Bono and the boys for rockin' KC last night, it was fantastic!
