My third U2 concert and by far the best. Like a fine wine, U2 seems to get better with age. I was totally unaware that it wasn't a sellout. From my perspective (2 people away from the heart) it looked to be a sellout or pretty close. I agree with past post that the main reason is Ticketmaster. I tried from 10 minutes prior to tickets going on sell and for the next 90 minutes trying to get floor tickets. Why was I able to pull up floor tickets to the Atlanta show 1 hour after, but could never pull up any for KC??? Thanks Ticketmaster, bring on Tickets.com!!!
Anyway, was impressed with Garbage (although I think Shirley Manson is better as a redhead!) Got the crowd going and ready for U2.
From the first note of Elevation to the last note of Walk On, this show was true electrifying! I loved hearing the old stuff (that's pre-Joshua Tree for you newbies) mixed in with their new. Seeing the names of the victims from 9-11 brought new meaning to One. A great tribute to those fallen heroes!
The best part, though, came the day after. My wife (who didn't get to attend the concert), my 5 month old son, and myself went to the airport to watch Elevation Air takeoff. To our great surprise, we got the pleasure of meeting and talking to Bono & The Edge. Down to earth gentlemen. Bono talked for 10 minutes with my wife about our son and his. An excellent ending to another great U2 saga!
Kansas City, do everything possible to make sure they come back again!!!!
