FINALLY. I've been waiting along time (20 years) to see U2, and the MSG 6/17 show was just incredible. Having overheard many concert-goers in the Garden speak that this was their ump-teenth U2 show they attended (this year!), I was just grateful to attend this one. The band's performance of 'Far Away (So Close)' was very sweet, and their performance of 'Bullet the Blue Sky' preceded by the video of Charlton "Mr NRA Himself" Heston was powerful. Bono's tributes to John Lennon and Joey Ramone were somewhat expected yet very moving. Their 'low-profile' entrance onto the stage, minus the dimming of the lights, was probably the best entrance a band could make. No big deal, no big fuss...just 'walk on'!
I hope the band DOES decide to return to the States in the fall. I'd see them again in a second.
Thanks guys for the special show on Sunday night.
