by Just-Married
Dear fellow-fans,
This was a very special "honeymoon show" for me and Todd. We met on the Pop Mart tour of 1997 and got married in Minneapolis on the 27th of May of this year.
The show would turn out to be well worth the 12 hour wait outside the MSG and the drive from Minneapolis! Thanks to Propaganda we had GA tickets and managed to get spots right at the tip of the outside of the heart, by far the best "seats" in the house! Todd and I were each wearing a crown and holding a sign saying Just Married and Thanks U2.
PJ Harvey rocked and was absolutely fabulous! She gave up a big smile when a bunch of fans showed their appreciation by waving cut-out paper fish during her performance of "Down by the water," which includes the line "Big fish, little fish swimming in the water.."
Before the show we had wondered whether or not U2 would be excited about playing in New York. They were for sure! U2 was on fire!! Highlights for me personally included the song New York, during which I reached out to give Bono Todd's crown while shouting "you are the King!" He gave me a big smile, took the crown and coronated himself at the tip of the heart before blasting into the chorus! Later in the song, Bono threw the crown back to us. Also, at some point during the show while Edge and Bono where close to where we were standing, Bono acknowledged our sign saying something to the effect of "Edge and I just got married, too!"
For a longtime fan, it was an amazing experience to witness a show so full of meaning and emotion from up close. Bono was outraged during Bullet the Blue Sky and throughout the show really took the opportunity to get his non-violence message across.
After the show, Todd and I had an opportunity to see Bono outside MSG for a brief moment and later Larry. For Todd, a drummer himself, meeting Larry, who's been his inspiration for over 15 years, was a surreal experience and an opportunity for which he is ever grateful. I think I speak for the both of us when I say we can now die happy.
This was the second and last show for us on this tour (unless they decide to come back this fall..?) Hands down, it was the best concert I have ever seen in my entire life!!!!
With Love,
Veronika
