This review is a little late in coming, but atleast I've made it! Not all that much more to add to the slew of other reviews here. Simply, an amazing show!! Incredible energy from both the band and the crowd. It was one night in NYC this leg of the tour, and the band brought it! A true rock 'n roll experience. All the songs sounded amazing, but the standouts (in my opinion) were The Electric Co (with Edge shaking his guitar, and hitting his mic stand!), Vertigo, Beautiful Day, LAPOE, SBS, and The Fly. Of course, closing the show with Vertigo was very cool as well, capping off on a high note.
I will say I think the crowd expected something a little extra (as if we weren't given enough from that show already) hoping for a 3rd encore of 40, or jamming out Angel of Harlem, or most appropriately, New York, given that it was just one stop in NYC this time. Still, U2 performed, as always, with such feeling and intensity in each of their songs, and they really did bring it. We saw them in NJ, night #1, and they were great. Here, though, they had double the energy, as did the NYC crowd - the best audience in the world! Nice touch with the Bowie song too. Can't wait to see them again in NY in the Fall!
Oh, and a quick shout out to the greatest sound engineer ever, Joe O'Herlihy, who graciously provided me with a copy of the set list for the show at the end of the night - a great piece of memorabilia! He's kept the band sounding great for years!! (and a very cool beard he was sporting!).
On a final note, my seeing this show would have been impossible were it not for my absolutely amazing wife Andra who waited in line for 8 hours to get tickets for the show - she knows how much I love U2, and how badly I wanted to go to see them in New York City. All because of her...
'till the Autumn...
