With every show that I attend, I always approach it as it might be my last. Got hooked during Joshua Tree and followed them through to 10/25/01. I had tickets to 10/27, but after being in the heart, I knew anywhere else would be a letdown, so I sold them to appreciative friend who will get to experience U2 for the first time. That's really what it should be about. Sharing the experience, not hoarding it. Is it really necessary to go to more than a show or two when essentially the setlist is 95% static?
Worse yet, having to read the whining and complaining about that very fact from the fanatics is mind-numbing.

Anyway, off with horns and on with the show. Being so close you can't help but notice the passion they put into performing their songs. They don't treat them as 20 year old relics, but instead care about every note and lyric. The NY references were not from a preacher, but more from a new neighbor. They are entertainers, but instead of basking in the excesses of their position, they use the forum constructively to raise awareness and even help heal NYC a little. Agree with them or not, they stand for something -- and that is why people left MSG, or any other arena, feeling a little different, possibly enlightened, but definitely moved.

For those who feel compelled to attend so many shows, you have every right to, but think about the kid who's never been and can't get a ticket. You're seeing the same show and complaining, while they are missing the thrill of connecting with a real band.
