Having only previously seen the band in football stadiums I was so looking forward to seeing the lads in more intimate (20,000 !) surroundings, and in my hometown too. I was not to be disappointed.
I have been to this arena on over 30 occasions but I've never seen a reception like last night's. The band strolling on whilst all the lights are up really added to the atmosphere.
From where I sat at the side of the stage Bono's voice was too low in the mix for the first couple of numbers. However it improved and they absolutely nailed 'Until The End Of The World' and I have never felt so thrilled in all my life !
Further highlights (of so many) were Kite and Walk On, a rousing Sunday Bloody Sunday with the crowd going crazy, and the sequence of Bad/40/Streets which was just awesome.
Being a veteran of over 150 concerts (sadly this was only my 3rd U2 show) I can genuinely say that this was the best I have ever seen. There were many moments tonight that will live with me for ever.
Thanks U2 for a truly exceptional night.
