well here i am back home at my pc, after returning from my first U2 concert since popmart 4 years ago!
i have never been to an arena show before, and i think U2 are definitley better outdoors!
it was still a great show, and crowd were great, chanting "40" when the enocre break came along....the atmosphere was brilliant.
Bono and the band were on top form, although bono forgot the words to the start of the 2nd verse of "in a little while"!, and after composing himself, he started that part over again, as the band carried on playing.
He also dedicated a fantastic version of "KITE" to his father who has "2 or 3 days left" - referring to his father being in hospital, apparently very, very ill. Bonos sang this song with great passion - he said he thought he had written it for his kids, but now he realised it could have been written by his father to him......
The lighting apects of the show were great, and the effects matched whichever song they were performing very well indeed.
The whole place lit up for the start of "streets" which was a great site to see, as all of the crowd were going wild!
New York was good, with those edge guitar chords ringing out as loud as possible....sounding really raw!
The crowd went particulalry mad for "I will follow" and "sunday bloody sunday". "beautiful day" really rocked too.
All in all a great show...U2 on top form...hope for more of the same at the 2nd show tonight, and maybe a new song or two (i can dream!)!
