Well I've waited for 4 years to see Mount Temple's finest again and my wife has waited for 23 years. Knowing what I know now I'd have waited for another 4 years!
This was the first time I'd seen U2 inside since the Sellafield II concert in 1991 and knowing the Bon once said the band "didn't have a roof over its head" I was excited to see how it compared to Popmart and Zoo TV.
We soon realised that they could play in a cupboard and make it rock. No TV's, no trabant's, no lemon and no MacPhisto, but who cares, this was raw talent, emotion and four guys playing their hearts out like no one on Earth!
The songs rocked, Bono spun around the stage like a clockwork toy, Edge seemed intent on breaking his strings and as the fan's sign said, we liked the way Adam and Larry banged! The concert took on a new feel when Bono opened his heart about his dad, Kite suddenly seemed like a new song..a personal song. We listened as Bono talked about brave people making brave decisions in Ireland, this is what we wanted to hear.
I can't tell you how it felt to hear Bad and Streets; like an old friend you hadn't seen for a while I guess. Almost comforting. There was only one thing missing, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, though after Saturday I almost feel like I have. Rock on U2, 'You Still Haven't Lost What I'm Looking For!'
