I've been a fan of U2 for many years but have never actually got round to seeing them live. You may ask "why is this? Call yourself a fan?". Well I do call myself a fan and now I understand what I have been missing all these years. Talk about knocking you for six from the start.
U2 came on the stage casually and with the lights still on. Bright you might think, but it didn't matter we were all blinded by the sheer genius of the band. Kicking off with Elevation and with us singing ooooooohhhh ooooooohhheeer (chant in elevation) before you know it we were half way through the set, the place was absolutely jumping along to sunday and streets. One of my personal favourites was the acoustic version of Desire which was performed at the front of the Heart shaped walkway. Bono called Larry and Adam down to meet Edge and Himself. A bongo drum appeared for Larry and a perfect rendition of Desire was heard by all. The encore's were superb we couldn't get enough, we would of sold our souls for another half an hour. Bullet the blue sky saw Bono driving us wild with his Rattle and Hum style lamp flashing on the crowd. While Edge played his guitar to destruction. All in all brilliant, superb and most of all sincere emotion from Bono when he mentioned his ill father - all the best to Bono and his father.
Thanks
