Though a few weeks have passed, I must share how amazing it was to see U2 live on SNL. From what I have heard since the show, no musical guest has ever done what U2 did - created a fan frenzy and received an extended standing ovation. "Beautiful Day" has become a new classic. Though it was not a total U2 fan base in attendance, you could see that every audience member realized exactly who they were listening to. During "Elevation", Bono left the stage and proceeded to climb onto props, as he once again turned the mini-concert setting into a revival. The only problem was that you wanted 20 more songs from them. The band was in top form that night as they were earlier that week at Irving Plaza. Yes, I got to see them there, as well. How lucky am I! U2 fans are in for some special shows in 2001.
