Last night proves that after all these years, U2 still are at the top of their game and nobody plays that game better than these 4 guys from Ireland. I left the show with a very full and satisfied feeling. Not every course of this musical meal was perfect but it was very satisfying. The audience craved the new material as much as the old material. The band started the night with Love and Peace. Although very powerful, its not upbeat enough to be the first song. Vertigo changed all that and got everyone screaming. The streaming lights around the stage added to the energy of Vertigo. Elevation and Electric Co maintained that energy. The band and the audience had a chance to catch their breath on An Cat Dubh. The highlight for me was City of Blindng Lights. Bono walked a young boy around the ellipse who was waving at the audience as he made his lap. The audience also really got into Sunday Bloody Sunday. Other highlights were Streets and Pride. One song that did not duplicate the energy of the album track was Zoo Station. I really like this song but it did not translate well live. 40 was the perfect ending. I am going to both shows so I will see how the two shows compare.
