Last night's Atlanta show was perfect. There are simply no other words. Having seen the March show, which was absolutely wonderful in its own right, I knew to expect a lot but thought the boys would probably be exhausted by now. They'd looked kind of blah on recent TV appearances and I figured 101 shows would wear anyone out. Apparently not though. Moved by the death of George Harrison, they seemed even more committed to spreading their message of love, elevation, and beautiful days. Bono bounced around the stage like a teenager. Was vintage U2. They played hard and very very well. In many reviews, people mention what an awesome experience "Pride" is. Last night, I finally understood what they were talking about. The crowd sang so loudly that Bono could barely be heard. It was an 18,000 person love-in. Felt as though I was living "Rattle & Hum." Garbage was a brilliant opener (Shirley Manson rocked out, in spite of the fact that half the arena didn't have the courtesy to show up. They missed an excellent set.) "Please" was better than ever. "One" was a tearjerker. "New Year's Day" was a surprise treat. "Pride" was The Ultimate. It was one of the best nights of my life and, unfortunately, it was over in a blink. But, thank God for U2- the world's best rock band. After last night, they have most certainly earned the title.
