After being forced to wait eight months longer than I had expected, I was pumped to see U2 in concert this week. My wife and I flew up from Melbourne to go to this show, as we'd moved since buying the Brissy tickets last year.
We arrived a little later than was wise, and had to line up for 45 mins to get into the stadium. Our seats weren't great (but when they have to use three letters to describe your row, they're not going to be are they!), but we could see everyone in the stadium.
My general impressions of the show are of loud singing, laughter, and the cool breeze that the Irish brought with them. The set felt very intimate - Bono was very relaxed and comfortable. There were many highlights. Adam's bass sounded amazing, particularly in 'Vertigo'. I found 'Yahweh' finally connected with me, I've never really got the point of the song before. 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' was great. Bono pulled a kid out of the audience and got her to sing 'No More!' with him, which won my wife's heart for U2 forever. 'Miss Sarajevo' was a nice treat, as was 'The Saints are Coming', which had been in my head for the previous two days. The kite they set free during, well, 'Kite', was a lovely way to end the concert. Perhaps not the best or more rocking show they've ever done, but certainly a great chapter in my memory. I hope they come back soon.
