Hi!
this was my second u2-show, after Geleen 1981. I was 14 then and travelled all the way from Groningen in the north of Holland.
It was a great show for me, I painted a flag (an old bedsheet from my mum) with in red U2 on it, and Bono took it on stage. Since I was not allowed to take a stick with me on the festivalterrain, I tried to find a branch of a tree and succeeded. You can see Bono with 'my' flag on the sleeve of the 7"live single I will Follow, recorded at Heem in Hattem by Veronica's countdown.
I also presented Bono a bunch of pink carnations (anjers in dutch) and he accepted them and then picked the flowers out of the bunch and gave them to about 10 girls at the first row. This was shown on tv later that evening. I liked this show better then the second U2 at Werchter because people were more surprised this first concert. The second U2-gig on Werchter a year later, they were very well known and a lot of people acted a bit blase in the crowd.
