No matter how much you read and know about it, you never really know how it's going to feel. (isn't that every u2 show?) With the (relativly) sparse set and lighting compared to previous tours, Elevation seemed to take the mask off the band and reveal the man behind the curtain. The heart jutting into the mass of humanity, the interaction with the audience, the invitation for the fans to join the band in a song onstage, a legendary rock and roll band with massive world influence, but still just four guys from Dublin who can play some tunes. Simple, impressive, relatable, magnificent. Last night's show at Savvis Center proved once again that no matter what has come before, u2 can pull off something new every time, and keep going strong. The show was shorter than previous tours, mostly because of little time spent in between songs. I do miss Bono's angry rants from earlier years, and he doesn't attack certain songs the way he used to, but what are you going to do? Still, a great, spiritual experience, it never gets old. On a final note, I will never understand for the life of me why people pay good money to see a legendary show, then ruin it by talking as loud as possible through every quiet song and tripping over everyone on their way to get more beer. Their are plenty of Pubs in St. Louis without a $130 cover charge, go there next time and everyone will have a better evening.
Peace on Earth...
