An incredible show, topped both of the 2009 Soldier Field shows for me. Have never heard Edge's guitar so wicked and jagged as on these versions of "Even Better" and "The Fly". Couldn't believe they busted out "Out Of Control"! I never thought I'd get to see U2 play "Zooropa" or "Hold Me Thrill Me" so these were unbelievable treats, so well done.
I feel like "Miss Sarajevo" has run its course now that Bono isn't pushing himself vocally, but this was really the only weak point of the show. "I'll Go Crazy" was less intense overall than two years ago, but the mashup with "Discotheque" more than made up for it. Obviously, the ending with "One Tree Hill" was one of the greatest moments of my personal concert-going history. The Chicago crowd (aside from sitting down during "Zooropa"????????) was incredible; the energy was off the charts, the group consciousness was enough to even keep the weather at bay. Getting chills yet again just thinking about the night.
I was able to take my favorite aunt to the show, her first U2 show since 1987, the woman who started me off on my U2 obsession two decades ago, so this was just...no words can describe the gratitude I feel about this. I've had very few better nights in my life. Thank you, U2.
