I flew to Chicago from Minneapolis to see my 2nd of 3 Popmart shows, and my 4th overall.
My first Popmart experience was in Memphis, early on in the tour. Technical difficulties and a show that was still not tight made that show somewhat underwhelming by U2 standards.
This show in Chicago was on a different planet than Memphis, however. The band were in great form, the sound and screen were perfect, and the experience was far suprerior.
Popmart is an amazing spectacle that makes sense out of performing in a stadium...and that screen is incredible. My ONLY complaint, and it is a minor one at that, is that I miss the relative intimacy of the arenas. I realize Bono has to be out on the catwalk a lot in order to feel like he is reaching the audience, but I miss seeing all 4 members on stage together as a BAND. There are times when this show comes off as Bono and the boys rather than U2 because he is so seldom with the band. But I must reiterate that is a minor complaint to a show that really has grown on me and carries a WOW rating on my concert meter. :)
