A Star Studded Event
As with most Los Angeles, shows, there were many celebs on hand this evening. I was sitting basically next to Elisabeth Shue, and saw the following peoples at the mixing board: Angelica Houston, John Voight, Ben Stiller, and perhaps someone could confirm this, but was Brian Wilson there? Anyhow, on with the show.
This was my 4th time seeing the Elevation Tour in Los Angeles/Anaheim, and am still at a loss for words. As with any U2 show, it can be summed up as a religious experience. I almost feel bad putting it into words, for it can only do it shame. From the moment the four lads from dublin strut out on the stage, with the house lights on, to the belting out of Hallelujah to cap off the night, there is a continous rush of adrenaline going through the crowd. It was a delight, and suprise, to hear Mysterious Ways pop into the setlist (especially so early in the show), as was the superb rendition of Out Of Control. Unfortunately, nobody was brought on stage to play guitar, however, I did see numerous signs that Bono was looking at, and at the moment he would usually bring somebody up, he broke into laughter, then whispered into Edge's ear to play Please (I assume that is what he told him, for that's what happened next).
Then, to hear one of my favorite songs (Well, they all are my favs actually, but you know...) Bono sang a full verse of Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses after Bad. It may have been 2 full verses, I was just so happy to hear it, I can't fully remember. Streets and the addition on this leg of MLK's speech during Pride (ZooTV style) are always highlights of the show. And, as with Tuesday night's performance, tears were brought to my eyes when the names of the innocent victims of September 11 were scrolled on the screens. It was an unforgettable night, with the greatest band in the world!!
P.S. Pardon any mispellings or grammatical errors, but I just got home from the concert, and am very tired, so, once again, pardon me :-)
