After the amazing show from 4-12 – I decided on a whim to ride out the scalpers till the last minute and a drop in prices I managed to get behind the stage – one vantage point I actually wanted to have.
Nothing beats GA, like the previous night, obviously, but still this was fantastic, yet I do think that the previous night was better, even though the setlist was mixed up a bit more the second night: Gloria – the Christmas Theme, the new visuals for Origin of the Species and mixing in Norwegian Wood. Where else would you see Father Christmas Dancing with Elvis? Like Bono said, “it’s the Pantomime – we can’t help it!” Instant Karma was great as well – I could see Larry’s drumtech behind a box happily “air drumming” away.
And finally – after four attempts I got to hear “40” – complete with Instrument switch and the single torchlight. Great.
Finally, I can understand why people want to go to multiple shows. The energy, which came off the stage each night, was absolutely amazing. Thanks U2 for giving us a great soundtrack to our lives.
