I've seen the boys several times since the War days. I was lucky enough to acquire GA's for the show....and ended up 5 rows from the peak of the ellipse. Met some real cool folks down there. I have to agree with another reviewer. I saw alot of people with no FAN tix showing their memberships and getting in that line. Hopefully they'll straighten that out.
I guess the one beef I have is the constant comparison to other shows/tours. If I was to compare every show to a Zoo show, I'd probably never have seen them again. And, the setlist has changed very little from the start of the tour. They historically haven't done that. So you can wish in one hand and shit in the other....and see which one fills up first. Also, they are not going to play every song that 20k people want to hear. We've seen the setlists....we know what to expect. The whining needs to stop.
Now to the show. I thought it was excellent. I thought Bono was energetic. And his voice was in fine form. Adam was having a blast. On Sometimes, I don't know if anyone noticed Bono singing some of it to the Edge from the ellipse. I think there was something to that. And Bono really hit the notes. The AB trifecta was the best for me. I could hear the Fly over and over again. There was not alot of interaction with the crowd in regards to touching, etc. And the Edge only went out to the Ellipse a couple times for short stints. I really dug Bono doing the goose-step during Zoo Station....like on the Zoo tour. And NYD was a real show stopper. Saw Mark Prior when we were leaving. All in all, a real good show. My buddy had never seen em and was impressed with their sound/energy and the length of the set. He thought it rocked also...and is ready for the next show!
I think they played a setlist that would try to make everyone happy. If they are to be filming the next two nites, I don't foresee many changes. If you go with an open mind, you'll have a great time.
