I took my mom for Mother's Day. She is still raving about what a great show it was and how memorable it'll be. She was dancing up a storm in the 100 section. I had a lot of fun too.
I liked that Adam walked around the ellipse many, many times even provoking Bono to say "what has gotten into this guy!" Adam Clayton was the best part (great energy!) Bono and especially The Edge need to take some ellipse walking lessons from him!
The new Baby jackpot slot video and ZooTV mini-set is awesome. Zoo Station and the new Fly intro are great (love The Edge guitar echo at the start, drums kick in, and then the walking bass. As cool as the intro version of Elevation Tour was, this intro rocks more.) Oh, and Bono needs to lose that hat! Somebody please tell him!
Overall, it was not the greatest U2 concert, but better than most non-U2 concerts I've ever been to. I'd prefer City of Blinding Lights with confetti as an opener than the cheesey flashlights during Love and Peace or Else (a great rocking song that should not open though.) I'd also prefer a not-out-of-breath-and-sync Bono vocal during Vertigo.
They should shake up the setlist with some new songs (not just rearrange the order and replace 2-3 songs here and there.)
My mom almost cried at the end when the band left for the final time after 40. She said it was sad to see them go. People who have never seen U2 before would be amazed by this show.
I guess I'm spoiled and getting too picky having seen them a few times now. It seemed like the band were not having fun. I was hoping the band would have more freshness & spontaneity while performing. I look forward to the rest of the Chicago shows just getting better (as they did each night during the Elevation tour.)
Overall, I had a good time. They put on a very good show. I love U2.
