Another great Chicago show. "Wild Horses" was the only real surprise in the main set, but what a refreshing tune it was, although it was performed acoustically this time, unlike in Europe. Wish they'd just go all out on it, but I feel lucky just having heard the song played at all. "Miss Sarajevo" was much more powerful than I expected it to be, surely the Bono highlight of the show. "Yahweh" was played in between "Sometimes" and "Love and Peace," which is the first time all year I actually really appreciated the song. It's still kind of a silly song, but it worked so much better in that context than it has in the encores. Unfortunately it doesn't seem as though U2 will keep it there, but on this night, it worked quite well.
Stunning version of "Bad" in the encore, into "The First Time," which had been played the night before. Bono played guitar (as much as Bono can be said to be "playing" guitar) on OOTS, and then he brought up a girl from the audience to dance on "Fast Cars." This show was definitely stronger, tighter, and a bit more inspired than the shows that were filmed on DVD...they should've waited until the 3rd leg to film, but then again, we said that on the Elevation tour too. A great show, and a great end to the 6-show 2005 Chicago run.
