The stadium was built in the Docklands area of Melbourne. It replaced Waverly Park and is home to several Australian Football League clubs.
Since opening in 2000, the stadium has held the names Colonial Stadium (2000–2002), Telstra Dome (2002–2009), Etihad Stadium (2009–2018), and now Marvel Stadium (2018-present).
