Fire Engines hailed from Edinburgh and took their name from a song by 13th Floor Elevators. Their debut single, "Get Up And Use Me," was named "Single of the Week" by NME. The band split up in 1981 but became an influence on later artists like The Rapture and Franz Ferdinand. The latter recorded a limited edition single with Fire Engines in 2004. Franz Ferdinand covered "Get Up And Use Me" and Fire Engines covered the Franz Ferdinand song "Jacqueline."
