Keane's debut album "Hopes and Fears" was the second best-selling British album of 2004 and has since been certified 9x platinum. Their follow-up "Under the Iron Sea" hit No. 1 on the UK albums chart and No. 4 on the US Billboard chart. Their song "Somewhere Only We Know" peaked at No. 3 on the UK singles chart. The single "Is It Any Wonder?" from "Under the Iron Sea" was nominated for "Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals" in 2007. Keane's notable quality as a band is focusing more on the piano as the main instrument instead of the guitar. They have also covered songs by U2, Depeche Mode, Genesis, and The Beatles.
