Lou Reed has opened at 9 U2 concerts.
Brooklyn born singer/songwriter/musician Lou Reed began his career in music with the Velvet Underground before going solo. "The Velvet Underground & Nico" is listed as the 13th most influential album of all time, as per "Rolling Stone." The name for the debut album was inspired by model and singer Nico, who contributed to the band at the request of artist Andy Warhol who thought the band needed a "chanteuse." His solo album, "Transformer," was a success commerically and critically in 1972 and was co-produced by David Bowie. A legend in the music industry with a career of many milestones and ups and downs, Reed passed away in 2013 and tributes were given by Bowie, David Byrne, and Morrissey.
