The boys from Dublin NEVER disappoint!!! Saw them in Chicago in May and felt this show was on another level. The crowd was in full throat especially "Elevation" with the "oooooh ooh,"
"Pride" and "Sunday Bloody Sunday."
Every U2 show provides multiple heart/spine-tingling moments but the moments that really were seared into my soul.
Here are some of them: 1)Bono and the Edge asking the crowd for "just a minute" on the edge of elipse when they had to restart "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses," I love the fact that the world's greatest rock n' roll band aren't afraid to take themselves to seriously(eventhough many think they do)and have a laugh on their behalf-their HUMAN and that's cool!
2)Watching the video screens and seeing Larry Mullen Jr. mouthing the words of "Elevation" with Bono and the crowd and then just cranking into the drums with unbridled force and ferocity-Larry was just pounding the skins all night-ELECTRIC!!!
3)Regardless what anyone believes (those who believe U2 can get to preachy and heavy handed) seeing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights scrolled on a jumbo widescreen TV and being read makes you feel lucky to be alive and thankful for what you have.
4)Seeing my girlfriend wipe away those beautiful crocodile tears multiple times during the show and being able to share in the moments-life affirming.
5)When Bono let us know that it was "Twent-nine years to this day," that the band met in Larry's kitchen was the best birthday gift anyone could get. Given the fact that my own birthday is only two days from that-THANK YOU!
6)JUST 4 GUYS WEATHERING 30 YRS OF LIFE TOGETHER AND WANTING TO CREATE VITAL MUSIC AND STILL GOING OUT NIGHT AFTER NIGHT AND DOING IT WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER, SOUL AND THE NEED TO ROCK THE WORLD!
