I was looking forward to seeing the show. Last time (and only time) I had seen them before was Lexington 1987. I'm not sure why it took 13+ years for me to see them again, but I was definitely overdue. I had a concern with how the sound would be at Conseco as my previous experience at the arena it was very muddy. The sound was terrific from the beginning where I was sitting.
Elevation rocked and is a terrific opener. The segue into Birthday got a roar from the crowd. Most of the show was terrific as even a casual U2 fan like myself can be mesmerized by the new songs (and I didn't know any of the new songs except for seeing the titles at this site!) Looks like I need to go get the new album as for the most part, it was great.
The biggest highlight of the show though may have been the threesome of Desire, Stay and All I Want is You. Wow. The show would've been worth it if these had been the only three songs they played. When they followed it with Where the streets have no Name and it was in high gear.
As for the women jumping up on the runway and dancing with Bono, that was classic. Not sure if that's a regular thing in the show or not, but they were coming from everywhere it seemed to get up there and dance.
The encores were great; the highlight for me was With or Without You and One which was out of this world. Walk On was a strong closer and for a moment, I thought they may come out one more time as the lights were down for about 3 minutes after they walked off.
I can guarantee it won't be another 13+ years before I see them live again.
