I see what's happening hear and I don't like it. Somewhere along the way, "show consultant" Gavin Friday or Paul "ISP" McGuinness recommended to U2 that they ought to bring back some old live favorites, maybe play an acoustic set, or drop "Unknown Caller" altogether. The latter makes me the most mad because it's the best song on No Line On The Horizon. U2 is known for taking criticism very seriously, but I really hope this is not the case with the recent setlist shakeup. I'm optimistic "Unknown Caller" will return to the fold, "Drowning Man" will make its debut, and Larry Mullen will once and for all put a stop to them playing "With Or Without You" every night.
All in all a wonderful show - I predict more greatness over the next two nights. I live only 7 blocks from Croke, so I'm enjoying this little StayCation for all that it's worth. When U2 plays Dublin it is indeed magic.
On a lighter note, my wife of 21 years played personal bartender at the park for me tonight. She treats me like a king when U2 comes to town because she knows it's my most favorite thing in the world. Everyone should have a wife like her. Much thanks, Barbara.
