I have only just discoverd this site and have decided to post a review for this concert (nearly four years later)!!! This was the first concert I had the privelage of going to (I was 16 at the time). This concert will be etched in my memory forever.

I had been dying to go and see U2 live for about six months (since tickets for the Elevation Tour had been on sale). I had tried everthing to get tickets. I telephoned companies who were selling them for extortionate prices, I telephoned radio stations who were selling tickets in competitons but up until Tuesday August 21st I had no such luck in purchasing a ticket. I had resigned myself to the fact that I would not be going to see U2 on their groundbreaking Elevation Tour. Then on the morning of Tuesday August 21st, my friend, Ryan telephoned me. Ryan and two other friends had tickets to go and see U2 at Earls Court on Wednesday August 22nd. I thought he had telephoned me just to remind me of the fact he was going to see U2 and I was not. However, at that moment he uttered those magical words 'I have a spare ticket to the U2 concert tomorrow night?' His father had ordered four tickets instead of the three they asked for. After six months of failed attempts, the day before the concert I finally had a ticket for U2 at Earls Court.

As I have mentioned above, this was my first concert I had gone to and what a concert it was. I was seated at the very back of the arena but that did not matter, the most important fact was I was there and was going to witness the best rock 'n' roll band in the world live (possibly at their peak)!

The concert was amazing, all four were in top form and determined (especially Bono) to give a great and memorable concert despite the circumstances (Bono had lost his father the night before to cancer). From 'Elevation' to 'Walk On', 18,000 sang along to every word with Bono and the band. The first five songs ('Elevation' - 'Pride(In The Name Of Love')) rocked the arena. 'Kite' was particularly moving with Bono dedicating the song to his father. During 'Kite', 18,000 lit up the arena with their lighters, which looked beautiful and moved Bono emotionally. 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' and 'Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of' sounded great live. The highlight of the night was 'Where The Streets Have No Name'. The performance of the song and the energy within the arena during the song will stay with me forever! 'The Fly' and 'mysterious Ways' were also memorable. The encore prvided the classics 'With Or Without You', 'One' and 'Walk On'.

This night will simply stay with me forever. The arena concerts on the tour provided an intimacy with the band and their followers, that most will never forget. I hope they can deliver another magical perfomance at Twickenham on Sunday June 19th, when I see them live next.
