I hardly know where to begin :) The last time i saw U2 was at 2 shows back in 1987 on the Joshua Tree tour and before that 2 shows on the Unforgettable Fire tour before that...the June 1st show was AMAZING to say the least!!.....I had seats in the lower tier with a really great view of the stage (not as close as I would like to be of course but I would have taken the worst seat in there if I had to...(why is it the biggest and most dedicated fans don't get the good seats :)??? that's the real question!!.....
Seriously though...no complaints...it appears that the B stage seating area was THE place to be as Bono spent a good amount of time down there and when the band reappeared for the encore (starting with Discotheque - loved the Lemon!!!) the entire band was also down there as well....the crowd went insane with the older tunes such as "Pride" and "With or Without You" (as I did too), but the song that touched me the most was hearing "Where the Streets have no Name" again..it made me think a lot of the footage from the Rattle and Hum video at the ASU stadium show. The huge screen was fantastic...gave everyone a good seat I felt. U2 has a way of making a show very intimate even in a large arena atmosphere.
The only part of the show I did not enjoy was seeing the girl go up on stage with Bono during "Miami" mainly because I wanted it to be me!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed the stuff off of POP...especially "The Last Night on Earth". Our section was going wild during Edge's great performance of the "Sweet Caroline" karoake moment..I am so tired of hearing the flack about U2 losing their integrity with this type of album and direction.....only people who are true and loyal fans know their intent.
There was an incredible vibe in the air the night of the Sunday show...you could feel the energy runnining rough the crowd. When the band came out through the crowd with Bono in his "Boxing Robe" and Mofo began, everyone went absolutely wild...it was so great to see...also great to see the playful interaction between the bandmates too ..I can't wait to see them in 3 weeks at both Foxboro shows and in Dublin (if they ever get a venue there)...anyone who reads this and is going to a show soon, you are in for a real treat :) It was unbelievable!!
