First of all I would like to point out that I have attended more than 15 U2 shows on two continents since 1989. That´s why I went down to cologne with a sort of very relaxed feeling. Knowing the show, setlist and special stuff without seeing the Elevation tour before, I must admit that I hoped for an emotional night. After the gig the word "emotional" turned into "magic".
As usual the show started with the Beatles classic "Sgt. Pepper´s lonely hearts club band", in fact a nice warm up for the people standing in the heart right in front of the stage. Sgt. Pepper turns into the Elevation remix-Intro and U2 enter the stage with the houselights on. The band played very well, surprisingly Bonos voice was very strong that night. You shouldn´t have taped Boston ,but Cologne.....! Elevation is magic, it´s not that kind of expected "best of our music - best of your money" thing.
I guess almost every night of the elevation tour had it´s certain qualitiy, but gigs like cologne will cause what we´re all looking for: U2 will go even further........
Most recognizable moment during the show: Bono confirms that cologne is much louder than america. What a nice compliment.....
