It's been a week and I am still buzzing over this concert. It was my 3rd time seeing U2, and while I would probably even enjoy the band playing their songs from a boom box while sitting on the stage, I thought this was a truly great show. I'm proud that I was at the show, especially after reading so many other opinions that this show was one of the best of the tour so far.
A highlight for me was hearing "Gloria". I never thought I'd hear "The Ocean" live, but it was very cool. (Too bad they didn't go right into "A Day Without Me"...)
Running to Stand Still is one of my favorite "mellow" U2 songs so it was a great hearing that.
Bono singing to the boy Jason during SYCMIOYO was intense, knowing what the song is about. It was very powerful and I did get teary-eyed.
The energy in the air was very strong overall. I think I sang along with every song, from "Oh - you - look - so - beautiful" from COBL to the last "yeah yeah yeah yeah"s of the 2nd Vertigo (sorry neighbors) and did not sit down once. Unfortunately a lot of people around me did sit down during some of the slower tempo songs, like OOTS. It was a little discouraging for a longtime fan like me. It does seem like a lot of longtime fans were shut out of getting tickets. But I guess it shows my favorite band is still drawing them in, so that can't be all bad. Still, you get as much out of it as you put into it and it's not a Wayne Newton show (with no disrespect to Wayne or his fans)...
The stage show was very cool, especially the lights around the ellipse and the curtains of light...
I will definitely buy the live DVD of this tour (unfortunatly I don't think it will be from this concert) to try to relive the night... It was incredible...
