I may have some insight, but not sure how reliable. I was in the restroom before the show and I asked a Vertigo crew member the reason for the early start. He said the band had to fly out immediately following the show. With that said, very odd ending even if that was the case. Awesome concert but so wierd at the end. I was in the ellipse and the setlist we saw had the show ending with BAD. Patti Smith screwed something up.
