I went to New York with my friend, we bought ETS' Ticket Packages for the last show in MSG in October. We've booked the hotel and plane tickets by traveling agency in Zagreb (Croatia). We wanted to try to buy the ticket for the show on Oct 10 so we planed to go on Oct 10 to come to NY the day before the show, unfortunately we didn't manage to get the plane for October 10.
So we flew from Zagreb on Oct 11 early in the morning (still hoping that we'll arrive on time for the show) and we touched the ground on JFK at 4 a.m., so we got time to try to get the tickets for the show. We arrived on Manhattan at 7:30 a.m. and immediately went to MSG, and we found that guy with tickets. At first I was scared that he would sell us fake tickets, but everything went just great. I was excited like I was never before, I just came in that city that never sleeps, I was awake for like 20 hours and I'm about to see another U 2 show. We've had a good position right across the stage somewhere in the middle, my heart was beating like hell, I never felt that way before, it was the craziest thing I have ever done in my 32 years long life.
And then the magic started, and it was much better then in Europe. I went to 5 concerts this summer, all shows in Italy, but this show was complete different. This was much more intimate then in stadiums, although U2 somehow manage to connect with everyone in that huge stadium audience. The lightning were amazing, Bono was in better mood than in Europe, I could see that he feels like he's home in NY, he loves that city. He was talking all the time, I heard some new Bono stories, and the set list - amazing, surprise after surprise. Unlike Europe were I was listening to the practical same set list (1 or 2 changes, but I didn't mind) on this show I heard 6 new songs and some new snippets - Out of control, First time, Stuck in a moment, Fast cars, Crumbs an 40. The whole tour I was waiting to hear Crumbs (I even had to cross the ocean to hear it), and when I heard the opening tunes I went crazy, I started to jump and sing. They played it with such energy; I wandered why they've waited so long to play that amazing and powerful song. I like the First time which is one of my favorites from Zooropa, although I like a full band version better. The fast cars - a great surprise, I liked that song from the start (I have that version of the album), and after this performance I like it even better, great Spanish guitar by master Edge, and great dance by Bono, he is so cute with the hat. Then I finally heard WOWY, Rattle and Hum version with that lovely snippet - we all shine like stars in the summer night, very touching it nearly broke my heart, and that blue lights which switch on after amazing crescendo. Great show, one of the best I've ever seen, wonderful audience, their response was great; I especially felt that during Streets, this was my best Streets ever, it touched me very deep. And than I finally got the chance to hear that historic song 40, I felt like I was in red Rock. Perfect, fantastic and one more to come....
