That was a truly an amazing concert/spectacle/show and a complete adventure for me and my friend.
We arrived from our homeland Croatia to JFK around 5 P.M. and we came in our hotel in New York City around 7 P.M. and than went to Madison Square Garden around 8 P.M. Of course we did not have the tickets for the concert, but somehow we got them around 8:30 and we were in the arena!
We did not sleep a much before traveling, but that was not important any more because we were pumped up with adrenaline.
Now back to the concert. That was my 7th Vertigo concert and first U2 concert in arena and not in stadium like usually we have seen them in Europe. Experience was a different and more intimate, even though U2 is a stadium band, I really liked this arena show.
When we heard opening chords of City of blinding lights we were totally amazed and in ecstasy, just a few hours ago we were in the plain and without tickets! After that it followed Vertigo and that was a real punk rock song full of energy and audience went crazy. Similar response was on Elevation and Out of control (that was a debut for me on the Vertigo tour).
I still haven¨t found what I¨m looking for gave me chills through my spine and goosebumps as always. That is simply U2 classic. It was a great sing-along, same as Beautiful day.
Bono gave us a different speech than in Europe before Miracle drug and that song is so powerful and full of emotions as well as Sometimes you can¨t make it on your own.
War trilogy was strong and dramatic as always and crowd just adore Sunday bloody Sunday.
Miss Sarajevo was very emotional and Bono left his heart on that song and he hit high notes and totally nailed that opera part.
Pride was another powerful performance and sing-along and the audience was thrilled again.
Then it came a highlight of the evening and like on every U2 concert the strongest and the best live rock song ever-Where the streets nave no name. People simply adore that song and the response is the strongest as well as the noise in the arena during that song and specially during first minute of that amazing song. I got chills and goosebumps all over my body and the audience was so loud, crazy and wild. Even Bono said WOW a few times and "Noisy f*****s New York"!
One was great as always with extra verse and I really liked cell phone moment, it looked just incredible.
Encore was really fresh and great for me, because in Europe we basically had standard set list with a small changes.
First time and Stuck in a moment were a good surprise but Fast cars was totally crazy and rocking. With or without you is simply outstanding and beautiful, a pure U2 classic and essential U2.
But the biggest surprise and the best new song for me was Crumbs from your table and chills were there again. That was so powerful, strong and emotional song and I wonder why they did not play it in Europe.
Finally I heard 40 after so many years of waiting and so many snippets of that song.
Simply a great, amazing, awesome, magical, outstanding and beautiful experience/concert by the best band ever!
Thank you Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam for this concert and a great spiritual journey.
Audience was really great and loud!
