Having only been a U2 fan since like October of 2000 and only having their Greatest Hits CD and All That You Can't Leave Behind, I was kinda skeptical about attending this at first. I was like "what's the big deal?" I knew I had my favorite songs like "Where the Streets Have No Name", "With or Without You" and "Sunday Bloody Sunday" but i wasn't really sure i liked U2 all that much. I mean, the tickets were given to me as a graduation gift by my sister since I graduated class of 2001 and she said she wanted to see U2 and she said it was pretty much the last chance to get tickets and it would be something i would regret if i didnt do it. so i (now, thankfully) said yes.
I had the best time of any concert I ever had. From the opening Elevation theme when Adam, Edge, Larry and Bono came out and the screams were horrendous! I found myself singing to many songs i knew from the 2 CDs i had as well as discovering several ones that I never heard yet like "Until the End of the World", "The Fly" and "Bullet the Blue Sky." And I went ballistic when they played Sunday Bloody Sunday and Where the Streets Have No Name. Then, With or Without You was played in a more calm way, but I enjoyed it just as much. Bono gave an inspiring speech before One was played, then One and Walk On finished the night in grand fashion.
Unfortunately I hadnt the time nor money to see them on their 3rd Leg, but U2 had done their magic on me. I went out and bought every U2 album except Wide Awake in America, and I have several of the concert videos.
I think it is fair to say this night changed my life. SIEG U2!!
