Hello, yes it's me again. 6th Elevation show for me last night at the NEC. First time I've ever been to the arena and much smaller than the Manchester gigs. I thought the facilities were pretty dated, I mean blokes having to queue for the toilets!!! Come on!
U2 played a good opening night in Birmingham, Bono was restrained at times and playful at others and several fans made it onto the Heart walkway. Highlights were Kite, Stay, Gone, The Fly (new version is so much better) and Wake up dead man, which is taking on a poignancy of all it's own. As usual most people reserved the best applause for the 'anthems'. Enjoyed the concert but was constrained by the lack of room in the seats and lack of atmosphere during some of the songs from the crowd. This was by far the poorest crowd reaction of the 6 gigs I've attended. COME ON BIRMINGHAM, is this the best you can do?!! This is U2, the best live band in the world. I mean, the numbers of people who got up for a walkabout during Wake Up dead man was criminal, you know like when you're at football and you constantly have to keep getting up to let people get past.Advice for anyone going to the NEC, get standing tickets and party at the front with those who really want to. Another great show lads, I've got a week off now til London. Hope it kicks like Manchester and the European shows!
