I've seen U2 6 times now. Twice on the Joshua Tree tour, twice on the Popmart tour, and twice on the Elevation tour.
Each time, except for last night, the first show was always better than the second.
Last night's show was the most powerful of the U2 shows that I have EVER seen!
I'm not one to rave about how great a performer is, but there were parts in last night's show where I was tearing up.
The most poignant moments were during Sunday Bloody Sunday.
As the opening lyrics go, 'I can't believe the news today. I can't close my eyes and make it go away.' As with millions, that's how I felt about the tradgedy of 9/11.
Then during the song, a fan held an American flag out to Bono. He reached out and took it gently into his hand.
He kind of sadly looked at it, then held it lovingly in his arms, and he embraced it.
Yeah, it might have been Bono working the crowd, but it really struck a chord with me.
Another significant moment was when Bono introduced 'Please'. He commented on how he wrote it about religious zealots that twist religion/god into what suits them best.
I never paid much attention to that song previously. After last night, it has a new meaning to me.
And finally was 'ONE'!
What can I say about the listing of the names from the downed flight, and NYPD/FDNY members.
It was simply amazing!!!
