Having a few days to look back and reflect, I must admit that this was the best show I've ever seen. I saw Bruce Springsteen in Philips Arena last year, and even HE couldn't get the crowd bouncing and jumping like U2. A very diverse crowd, lots of energy! I arrived at 2:30 and met three cool guys from Jacksonville who had got into the heart in Charlotte the night before. We waited and waited, and even when the Phillips Arena people almost screwed us, we got in and I was in the Heart of the stage. It was amazing. People freely taking photos of the band, no one fighting or shoving. The show was about feeling good, and about love, and that's what I felt all night. Nelly Furtado rocked in her opening set, and then she was in the heart later on and I didn't even know it! After the show, I shook hands with Daniel Lanois at the soundstage(nice shoes he was wearing) and he was very nice and said that It was a very good show. I saw a very pregnant Ali leave the arena, and Mike Mills from R.E.M. I was too polite to bother Mike for a picture with me since he was being a good samaritan pushing an elderly man in a wheelchair. Hightlights of the show? The entire show was a highlight. Great stage design, cool lighting, good set list (loved the stuff from POP,and the FLY). The only thing I would have changed was to have the Edge plug in during The Ground Beneath Her Feet.
I will make it to another show this tour (I hope) but for right now, I've left all that I can in Atlanta, and so did U2...
ROLL TIDE and LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL!!!
