Ugh . . . worst stage layout
The staging and production at the Rose Bowl tonight made for the worst fan experience I've had at a U2 show. Many seats (mine included) had obstructed views due to the two story crew tent at the back of the GA section. The problem was compounded by the band often playing on the lower stage, which was offset to East side of the Rose Bowl. That meant that anyone sitting toward the back on the West side couldn't see the band at all when they were on the lower stage. We couldn't see the band for most of the encore. It was bad enough that I think the band should issue refunds for people who had obstructed seats.
It was also bizarre and disappointing that there was no video of the band playing until around half way through the show. The venue is so big that it's hard to see them. The videos playing behind them made it even harder to see them. I've never been to a stadium show where there weren't constant videos of the band playing. Even the Lumineers had video of them playing virtually their whole set. It'a hard to imagine why U2 would not do this.
